Open the game, go to any locked chapter, tap See what remains, then Restore purchase. The unlock is tied to your Apple Account, so as long as you are signed in with the same one it will come back — and Family Sharing is on, so your family's devices are covered too.
Progress syncs through your private iCloud key-value store. Check that iCloud is signed in and iCloud Drive is on for both devices, then open the game and give it a moment. Progress merges rather than overwrites: if two devices are each further along in different places, you keep the best of both, and syncing can never take a level away from you.
Every one of the sixty boards is verified solvable by a solver in the test suite, so there is always a way through. Sit with it — and if you have genuinely been at it a while, the courtyard offers a hint.
Settings has a mute, and unveil follows the system Reduce Motion setting throughout: the ambient drift, the spinning light and the rising motes all stop, and nothing you need to see is only shown by movement.
